Android Press accepts both unsolicited submissions and submissions made by agents, but all submissions must go through our Moksha submissions portal. Any unsolicited query pitches or manuscripts sent to our email will be deleted without comment or consideration.

As of November 1, 2025 we are open for novella and novel query submissions

We will remain open until our 2027 publication schedule is full.

Please do not submit a proposal unless you have a completed manuscript you are prepared to submit upon request.

Some Basics that apply across submission categories:

What rights are we buying?

We are buying first world English electronic, print, and audio rights.

Manuscript Wish List

In general, we love sci-fi, fantasy, horror, climate fiction as well as rebellious and revolutionary -punk genres.

In addition, we would love to see the following in our submission inbox:

  • Stories written by Indigenous, BIPOC, womxn, immigrant, and LGBTQIA2+ authors that bring their valuable cultural perspectives and experiences to the science fiction and fantasy worlds, and to solutions for building a better world.

  • Stories that have protagonists from marginalized communities and plots that center those communities.

  • Stories that take place in non-Western geographic and cultural settings.

  • Stories of unlikely allies that have at least some focus on the complexities of that difficult relationship.

  • Stories set in far-flung, distant futures and/or set in space in which the characters are connected to Old Earth through myths or legends that are important to their communities and worlds.

  • Stories in which nature becomes a character in its own right.

  • Stories that center nonhumans and that depict humans learning to relate to nonhumans in ways not rooted in domination and power dynamics.

Hard Nos

  • First books in a series that  don't work as standalone stories.

  • Stories with solutions that are greenwashing, capitalist, or rooted in uncritical consumerism.

  • Stories depicting monarchies, colonialism, imperialism, fascism, or other forms of authoritarianism in an uncritical way.

  • Stories depicting racism, white supremacy, sexism, cis-heteronormativity, ableism, fatphobia, and other forms of bigotry in an uncritical way.

  • Gore just for the sake of it. We want horror submissions, and gore is perfectly fine. But we prefer gore that's integral to plot or character rather than just gore for the sake of gore.

  • Porn or erotica. Eroticism and sex in service of the plot and character development is totally fine. But if it's the focus of your manuscript or takes up an inordinate amount of space, there are other publishers out there who who would be a better fit for your work.

  • Picture books or Middle Grade novels. It's not that we won't ever publish these, but if we do, it'll probably be by solicitation only.

  • Epic Fantasy and Sword and Sorcery. For the most part, these are the only two sub-genres of fantasy we aren't interested in publishing.

At this time we are not accepting queries for anthologies or short story collections.

Novel and Novella Submissions

Android Press accepts both unsolicited submissions and submissions made through agents.

Our novella/novel query submission window is currently open for science fiction, fantasy, climate fiction, and horror for Adult, New Adult, and YA markets, and will remain open until we've filled out our publishing schedule through 2025. Please do not submit a proposal query unless you have a completed manuscript you are prepared to submit upon request.

Some Basics

Send us your manuscripts: sci-fi, fantasy, horror, climate function, and -punk stories.

  • novellas (20,000–60,000 words)

  • novels (60,000–100,000 words)

Please do not submit more than one query proposal at a time.

We generally try to respond within 3-4 months. We've been known to take longer, but that's why we closed our submission portal for some time. It allowed us to clear our queue, and we're dedicated to doing better at hitting our 3-4 month goal. You are, of course, more than welcome and even encouraged to submit your manuscript elsewhere while waiting for our reply.

Please note that we are a genre publisher. All manuscripts must have a science fiction, fantasy, horror, or speculative element that is central to the story or world to be considered.
